What is one more upsell per server actually worth?

A server who can describe a dish can sell it. One who can't, doesn't. Put your own floor into the numbers below and see the size of the gap — priced off the real median prices from a sample across 110 restaurants' menus, not a made-up average.

Common questions

Why doesn't this page show a return multiple?
Honestly? Because we'd have to make one up. What we can show you is what actually happened — check totals up 11%, wine sales up 34%, both read straight out of the POS. Turning that into a guaranteed multiple on your money would be a number we invented, and you've been sold enough of those. So the calculator shows the size of the opportunity using real prices and your own floor, and leaves the selling to your team. You know better than we do what they can do with it.
Can I use these prices in my own article or deck?
Yes. The dataset is published under CC BY 4.0 — cite ShiftTrained and link back. Every figure carries its sample size so you can judge it.
My restaurant isn't in the US. Do these numbers work?
The medians are dollar-denominated and the currency selector converts them at a static rate, so treat it as a ballpark rather than a quote. The structure of the arithmetic holds anywhere.
